Gentle reader,
I last wrote almost one month ago and here is a link to that article which is now second of a three part story.
Dynaco: Panor for Short. History PART TWO Plus ODD Dynaco Speakers.
Previously, I started here with a history of Dynaco's Second Coming thanks to a Taiwan owned company once called "Pan-Orient" but shortened to PANOR.
Dynaco Given a Second Life. Pan Orient Company: Panor for Short. A Photographic History PART ONE.
Now, I bring new evidence of the series of loudspeakers that Panor-era Dynaco was to have produced. As previously written, I could find NO photos except for two pairs of "A25 Classic" speakers. But that is about to change.
Below, are scans of what I believe to be the first product brochure put out by the new-for-the-1990's Dynaco which is all about their upcoming speakers line.
NOTE: If viewing this on a computer, either desktop or laptop, clicking on any image on this page will open a window atop this window. The images will be larger than here, so one should be able to read the tiny text on the four pages.
A large selection of sizes to choose from.
Above and below comprise a gatefold page, thus the bisected "OPTIONS" on two pages.
Above, note the classic Dyna-quad, which they never made.
Above are the specifications of those many apparently never made speakers. All but the not shown A38 are bass reflex with a tuned port. No longer attempting to make the classic Dynaco "aperiodic vent", except in their "A25 Classic shown in the previous article. All were to have had black or medium oak vinyl veneer.
Also shown above are one of their planned In-Wall speakers, for which I previously had brochures. A new addition is their Model 595 In-Wall Receiver. It would have been an interesting unit to have, although, BEING the 1990's a CD player would have been a better choice or perhaps a second, higher priced option.
So, there you have it, further evidence of PANOR's grand plan to ride the wave of glory formed by the original Dynaco company. That company and history is briefly covered on page two of the brochure.
Next time I was published again, this time in AUTOMOBILE magazine, so I will be adding that to the previous article as well as scanning each publication's cover and the article pages.
Thanks for looking,
Scott Robb

They made some of these? I have 2 of those FL-60 in wall mounted speakers, along with a smaller version of them with 4 &1/2 drivers with the same tweeters. I found them in my grandfathers garage still wrapped up, but with no manual after he passed. I installed them in my ceiling and they sounded (for about 2 hours) great until a Wu-Tang song came on my iPod and blew all of the foam surrounds on them. I have been searching the entire internet to find any information on those speakers and some specifications. I just ordered new foam for them, I'll get back and tell you how they sound restored. Thank you for posting this!
ReplyDeleteWow! Great story. Yep, foam only lasts so long. Glad the article helped.
