Sometimes bigger is better!

Been a while since I've posted, so I thought I'd finally show the new-to-me Sony SACD/DVD player verses the newer, yet older one. Below, you can see the newer
produced but older to me Sony on top of the older produced, but newer to me
bigger Sony. They are, on top: DVP-NS755V bottom: DVP-S9000ES.

Note, both have the same terminals and output options, except the one above offers 5.1 channel output for surround sound SACDs and 5.1 DVDs.) Now, below is the back of the bigger one:

It weighs more than four times the smaller one does. I mentioned in a previous post that I bought the DVP-S9000ES that I got it for $14.99, exactly 1/1000th of the original price. Quite the bargain and one of my greatest bargains.

So, if you are anywhere over the age of say, 45, you may remember when VCRs came out. They were big and heavy. The one we still have now, is maybe five years old and I can pick it up with one finger. Yet, it is full-featured and does things only the original VCR designers could only dream of. I especially like that it automatically fast forwards through commercials. You may be thinking, "Doesn't he have a DVR?" Nope, my mother gave me one she had and could not figure out, and I too could not figure it out.
Of course, we could always opt to rent the "cable" box from Verizon FIOS with one built-in, but frank quitely, watching TV is not that important to the two of us. No show that we consider "ours" and cannot miss.

Nonetheless, in the case of these SACD/DVD players, bigger and heavier equals quality of performance and output of audio. I can't speak as to the video output of the DVP-S9000ES because I've never tried a DVD in it. I bought it for one purpose, the highest audio reproduction of SACDs and CDs that I choose to play through it.

The smaller one used to be our main DVD player in the living room. Hooked with both optical cable and six individual RCA analog cables for the couple of surround SACDs that I have. However, unless I was doing something wrong, the couple of times I played surround sound SACDs with it, it did not impress me.
